The province of Ontario has an abundance of beautiful cottage destinations. One area that stands out from others is Gananoque, meaning “town of two rivers” in aboriginal. The area was founded in 1789 by Colonel Joel Stone. The St. Lawrence River was vital to Upper Canada’s survival during the War of 1812. During this time, Gananoque was raided by America to disrupt the supply line between Kingston and Montreal.
Gananoque River runs through the town and connects to the St. Lawrence Rivers; it is often referred to as the Gateway to the Thousand Islands. This picturesque town is just under a 3-hour drive from Toronto, and just over an hour and a half from Ottawa. Its location makes the area a perfect cottage destination. The town and surrounding area have so much to offer. Locals and visitors enjoy fishing, walking the trails, golfing one of the many golf courses, or cruising through the 1000 islands.
For people looking to move here or purchase a cottage home, a new development in pre-construction called Riverstone Gananoque, is coming to the town. Located on the Gananoque River, it will be multiple low-rise developments with a total of 72 condo and townhouse units. The four buildings are as listed:
This new development is in an excellent location, where the Gananoque River and the St. Lawrence River meet. It provides residents with a luxurious lifestyle to live year-round, or as a vacation home.
