The district of Saanich is located on Vancouver Island in British Colombia, within the Greater Victoria area. The district acts as a bedroom community north of Victoria. The municipality contains a wide variety of rural and urban landscapes and neighbourhoods stretching north to the Saanich Peninsula.
In 2016, the population was 114,148. This makes it the most populous municipality in the Capital Regional District and Vancouver Island. With an area of 103.44 square kilometres, it is the largest municipality in Greater Victoria.
Saanich has more than 170 parks that cover over 8km of land. They also have more than 100km of trails for all types of hikes.
