Surrey is a city in British Columbia within the Metro Vancouver regional district and metropolitan area. It is a suburban city with the 2nd largest population in British Columbia. There are seven neighbourhoods in Surrey; Fleetwood, Whalley, City Centre, Guildford, Newton, Cloverdale and South Surrey.
Surrey has a population of 517,887. It is the 12th largest city in Canada. Immigration has drastically increased in the area since the 1980s, this has led to an ethnically and linguistically diverse city. Surrey's median household income is more than twice the regional average. Industries in Surrey include high tech, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, health, education, agriculture and arts.
Surrey is home to nature reserves, art centres, beaches, skate parks, forests, hockey and soccer fields, galleries, museums, recreation centres and bike/hiking trails. There is something for everyone!
Annual festivals include WinterFest, Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair and the Surrey Vaisakhi Parade. Every summer Surrey also hosts the Canada Cup International Women's Fastpitch Tournament.
