What to Expect

Bayshore is a neighbourhood in Bay Ward in the west end of Ottawa. It is bounded to the east by row houses off Bayshore Drive, Carling Avenue to the north, Holly Acres Drive and the neighbourhood of Lakeview to the west, and Ontario Highway 417 to the south.

The main street in Bayshore is Woodridge Crescent. The community features 10 high-rise apartment buildings, and a range of townhomes and garden homes.

Demographics

There is a mix of singles, families and lone parent households in the Bayshore neighbourhood. Many residents are University and College educated. Most of the population in the community features different ethnic groups.

Within the bounds of the community there are two elementary schools. Bayshore Public School is an English Public elementary school providing Junior and Senior Kindergarten as well as grades 1-5. The school's programs include a Regular English Program and an English as a Second Language program. Parent resources are available in Arabic, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Persian, Polish, Punjabi and Urdu. St. Rose of Lima School (formerly Bayshore Catholic School) is a somewhat smaller English Catholic elementary school providing Junior and Senior Kindergarten as well as grades 1-6. The school's programs include English, and French Immersion programs

Lifestyle

Bayshore is truly a community geared towards families and children.


The neighborhood has a local center called The Accora Centre which offers its residents a recreation complex that holds an indoor pool, gymnasium, weight room, lounge, and party rooms. 

In 2014 the Ottawa Senators Foundation, in partnership with Ferguslea Properties and the City of Ottawa, built a Rink of Dreams, which includes new boards, fencing, hockey nets in the winter and basketball nets in the summer.

What you'll love

The main attraction in this neighbourhood is the revitalized Bayshore Shopping Centre. The Bayshore mall underwent an extensive renovation that included a new parking garage, updates to the aesthetics of the mall, and the addition of several popular stores such as H&M, Victoria's Secret, Zara and Walmart.


There is a large movie theater owned by Cineplex Entertainment called "Cineplex Cinemas", previously called "the Coliseum" on Carling Avenue just outside the neighborhood.


Residents can connect to the city east and west, north or south using the Bayshore transit station.
